What you will learn
This course is designed for students who are interested in understanding basic concepts of probability and statistics. Topics include random variables, maximum likelihood estimates, expectations and moments, Chebyshev’s inequality, law of large numbers, central limit theorem, covariance and correlation, analysis of variance, linear regression, and Bayesian analysis. We will also introduce the R software for statistical analysis.
Students are expected to participate actively in classroom discussion, read the course material thoroughly and critically.
Course grades will be based on homework, quizzes, and in-class participation.
